Write for 85B

85B began as a reference site for international dress and bra size conversion, and that material still brings readers from every country that sizes clothing differently from its neighbours. Today the bulk of our editorial work is consumer guides to local professional services in US cities: ranked lists of lawyers, financial advisors, accountants, dentists, orthodontists, chiropractors and home services contractors, each built on a stated methodology and published with a plain disclosure. Our readers are people about to hire a professional or make a purchase and want an independent shortlist first. If you can research a market properly and write for that reader, we would like you to write for us. This page explains what we publish, how guest posts work and how to submit an article.

• Guides to choosing financial advisors, tax accountants and other money professionals
• Dental, orthodontic, chiropractic and other health practice guides for patients comparing providers

• Consumer explainers on fees, credentials, licensing and questions to ask before you hire
• Clothing and sizing guides, including international dress and bra size conversion

Guest posts and sponsored articles

We accept two kinds of contributed content. A guest post is an editorial article from an outside writer, researcher or practitioner, published because it helps our readers choose well. A sponsored post is a paid article from a business relevant to the topics above, such as a law firm, advisory practice, clinic, contractor, software provider or apparel brand, and it is written to the same standard as everything else on the site.

Both are published as permanent, indexed pages on 85b.org. Editorial links inside an article are dofollow, provided they point to a resource that genuinely serves the reader, such as a firm's own page, a licensing lookup or original research. Sponsored articles are labelled as sponsored where disclosure is required. Pricing for sponsored placements is available on request. Typical turnaround from acceptance to publication is three to five working days, and we confirm the publication date by email once a draft is approved.

Guidelines

Our contributor guidelines are short, and every submission is checked against them:

• Original writing only. We do not accept articles published elsewhere, including on your own site, and we check.
• Aim for 800 words or more. Ranked guides should state the criteria used, and explainers should answer the question the title asks.
• One or two relevant outbound links per article. Links must support the content; drafts that read like link lists are returned.
• Be accurate about professionals. Names, locations, credentials and licensing claims must be verifiable from public sources, and we do not publish allegations about named individuals or firms.
• Rankings must be editorial opinion with a stated method. We do not publish "pay to rank" lists presented as independent.
• No gambling, adult or pharmaceutical content.
• An author bio of up to 50 words is optional and may include one link.
• We edit for house style, length and clarity. Substantive changes are agreed with the author before publication.

How to pitch

Email a short pitch (two or three sentences on the topic, the city or market, and who it helps) or a complete draft to [email protected] with the subject line "Guest post: <topic>". Say whether you are proposing a guest post or a sponsored post, and list any links you would like to include. We reply to every pitch that fits the topics above, usually within two working days.
